NC Boating and Fishing Museum Weekend

The NC Beaufort Maritime Museum played host to over 100 representatives from over 35 NC boating industry companies the weekend of January 13-14. The event offered opportunities for social and business networking, area tours of boat-related training, building and repair facilities, and provided opportunities for the participants to learn about the NC Maritime Museum and its plans for an NC Boating and Fishing Museum proposed for the Olde Beaufort Seaport site. Attendees also learned about marketing sponsorship opportunities for the Pepsi Americas' Sail event. The weekend function was attended by the owners and spouses of NC boat building and boat product manufacturing companies. Representatives from Yachting Magazine and NC Boating Lifestyle Magazine, which wrote a summary article in the March issue.

The primary objective of the weekend was to share early plans for the NC Boating and Fishing Museum - the largest indoor and outdoor facility planned on the newly created 32 acre Olde Beaufort Seaport. This new museum component will provide visitors with past, present, and future previews of the NC boat-building industry, including information on NC boat-building families, boating traditions, boat building technologies, etc. It will also provide similar information on the state's recreational and commercial fishing industry and the role of these industries in the evolution of the boat-building enterprise in North Carolina. The weekend allowed a slow-paced social setting for NC boat builders and NC marine product manufacturers to interact and socialize.
